I am a  massive "Scream" fan, I was super hyped for "Scream VI," but man, it was a letdown. The whole New York City twist seemed cool at first, but it just felt gimmicky and didn’t really add to the suspense. The plot with Sam (Melissa Barrera) and Tara (Jenna Ortega) trying to move on was pretty predictable.

The acting was fine, but Barrera and Ortega’s characters didn’t have enough depth to keep me hooked. Courteney Cox’s return as Gale Weathers was a nice nod to the past, but didn’t really do much. The new cast, like Jack Champion and Liana Liberato, felt pretty meh. The horror was all over the place. NYC could’ve been awesome for suspense, but it just ended up feeling distracting. The movie leans hard on jump scares and basic horror tricks, which got old fast. The new Ghostface’s backstory seemed like an afterthought and didn’t bring anything fresh. This feels like a missed shot. It tries to switch things up but just recycles old stuff without the charm of the earlier films. If you were hoping for something new and exciting, this one’s probably gonna disappoint.
